Valuation

What's my business worth?

An important question and one often answered incompletely. Value and price are different terms. Value is a measure of benefits derived from current ownership. Price is what is ultimately agreed as payment between the parties to transfer ownership. Generally, strategic buyers see greater value in an acquisition and so are often likely to offer a higher price than economic buyers. Ultimately, the value and price paid is market driven and unpredictable. Importantly it's both price and payment terms together that dictate the flow of value from buyer to seller over time. Therefore terms must be part of any conversation about price.
